Duplo partners with Wema Bank to Automate Financial Operations for ALAT Business Customers

Duplo, the leading financial operating system for African businesses, has partnered with Wema Bank, to enable seamless financial management for businesses using the ALAT by Wema Bank platform. Through this partnership, businesses will have access to Duplo’s financial operations platform, enabling them to automate payments, manage expenses and approvals, generate and collect invoices, and control financial workflows within a single integrated ecosystem.

For many growing businesses, banking is only one part of the financial operations challenge as finance teams still manage invoices, approvals, vendor payments, expense requests, collections, and reconciliation across spreadsheets, email, banking portals, and accounting systems. This fragmentation often creates delays, errors, poor cash visibility, and weak financial controls, making it difficult for businesses to scale efficiently. Finance teams in mid-sized Nigerian firms also spend an estimated 30-50 hours per month on manual reconciliation, dispute resolution, and audit preparation representing substantial operational costs when valued at market labour rates.

The integration between Wema Bank and Duplo is designed to help businesses move beyond basic transactional banking into a more structured and streamlined financial operating system. Businesses using ALAT by Wema Bank will gain access to tools including local and international payments, expense management and approvals, invoice generation and collections, vendor payment automation, real-time financial reporting, and financial workflow controls powered by Duplo. These capabilities will enable companies to move beyond basic banking and operate with a more structured financial operations system. As part of the partnership, existing ALAT business customers will receive three months of free complimentary access to the platform, allowing them to experience its financial automation capabilities at no additional cost.

“This partnership reflects our focus on building a digital banking platform that supports how businesses actually operate. By integrating Duplo into ALAT, we are giving our customers access to tools that simplify financial management and support their growth. We understand that businesses today need more than payment services. This integration strengthens our product offering enabling us to deliver a more comprehensive digital banking experience for our customers while supporting business growth across Nigeria” commented Tunde Mabawonku, Executive Director - Finance & Digital Optimization at Wema Bank Plc.

For Duplo, the collaboration extends its financial automation platform directly into the banking environment used by businesses. “Our goal is to help businesses run their financial operations with greater clarity and control. Many businesses today are still managing payments, expenses, and reconciliation across systems which slow decision making and create unnecessary operational risks. Partnering with Wema Bank allows us to deliver that experience within a platform business already trust. By embedding our platform within ALAT, we aim to make it easier for companies to manage finances in real time, improve visibility over their cash flow, and scale their operations confidently” commented Yele Oyekola, CEO & Co-Founder at Duplo.

The integration is built as a secure, consent-driven system that allows businesses to access Duplo directly through ALAT, receive a Wema Bank virtual account for collections, and process payments via Wema Bank’s rails while managing financial workflows from a single dashboard. The onboarding process follows a structured flow, including registration, plan selection, payment, KYC synchronization, compliance review, account activation, and virtual account provisioning.

The partnership highlights the continued evolution of digital banking in Nigeria, as financial institutions increasingly combine core banking services with embedded financial operations tools that help businesses improve efficiency, strengthen financial controls, enhance visibility and make better financial decisions.
