NIGERIA’S CRUDE OIL PRODUCTION RISES BY 0.4% IN AUGUST

Sept 15: Nigeria’s crude oil and condensate production rose marginally by 0.4 percent in August 2026, reaching an average of 1.678 million barrels per day (bpd), as the country met its Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) quota for the fourth consecutive month.

The Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission, in a statement issued  by its Head of Media & Corporate Communications, Eniola Akinkuotu, said the country’s total daily production increased from the July level to 1,677,777 barrels per day in August.

However, when condensates are excluded, Nigeria’s crude oil production stood at 1,500,190 barrels per day during the month, according to the commission.

The regulator said the August performance was supported largely by the resolution of operational challenges associated with the Single Buoy Mooring (SBM) at the Erha field, which had affected production in the preceding month.

According to the NUPRC, restoration of normal production and evacuation operations at the asset contributed positively to the country’s overall output in August.

Daily combined crude oil and condensate production fluctuated between a low of 1.64 million barrels per day and a high of 1.71 million barrels per day during the month.

A breakdown of production by terminals and streams showed Bonny Terminal leading the industry with an average daily output of 320.04 thousand barrels per day (kbpd), followed closely by Forcados Terminal with 317.40 kbpd. Qua Iboe Terminal recorded an average daily production of 171.72 kbpd of crude oil and condensates, while Escravos Oil Terminal accounted for 131.71 kbpd.

Bonga ranked fifth among the leading producing terminals, recording an average of 92.50 kbpd of crude oil during the period.

The regulator said production activities across most other producing assets remained relatively stable in August, with operators continuing measures aimed at improving production efficiency, maintaining asset integrity and reducing operational disruptions.
