Banque du Caire IPO adds EGP 80.8 bln to EGX market value: FRA chief
Speaking at the EGX opening-bell ceremony, attended by Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, Azzam said the listing would broaden ownership, deepen the market, and attract investors capable of developing assets.
The offering was priced at EGP 5.30 per share, implying a market valuation of about EGP 80.8 billion for the bank. Orders for the private tranche reached EGP 205.8 billion, covering it nearly six times, while the public tranche was 27 times oversubscribed, Azzam said.
The bank’s entry adds a value equivalent to around 2.1 percent of the total market value of EGX-listed companies, based on the previous trading session, he added.
Azzam said the listing process reflected coordination among the FRA, the State-Owned Companies Unit, the investment banks managing the offering, the legal adviser, the EGX, and Misr for Central Clearing, Depository, and Registry. Their work included reviewing disclosures and the share’s fair value, completing regulatory requirements, and coordinating listing, trading, and settlement procedures.
He highlighted Banque du Caire’s financial position, saying its assets stood at EGP 533 billion at the end of 2025, with loans of EGP 258 billion and customer deposits of EGP 401 billion. Net profit reached EGP 16.1 billion, up 30 percent year on year, while its capital adequacy ratio stood at 22.06 percent.
Azzam reaffirmed the FRA’s support for the government’s offering programme and the implementation of the State Ownership Policy, saying the authority’s role extends beyond regulating offerings and trading to promoting transparency, protecting investors’ rights, and ensuring equal opportunities.
He said the FRA’s support focuses on streamlining procedures while complying with the law, identifying practical challenges through consultation, and strengthening the professional capacity and financial literacy of companies preparing to list.
The authority’s training programme, delivered through the Financial Services Institute and the Egyptian Directors Centre, has involved 118 participants from 34 companies, including firms temporarily listed and those targeted for future listing, he said.
Banque du Caire IPO attracts over $500 mln from abroad
The Banque du Caire IPO attracted more than half a billion dollars transferred from abroad, Chairman of the EGX Omar Radwan said during the opening-bell ceremony.
The offering raised EGP 36.37 billion through the sale of 45 percent of the bank’s shares, giving it an implied market value of around EGP 80.8 billion.
Radwan said the public tranche was more than 27 times oversubscribed, with buy orders exceeding 9.28 billion shares. The private tranche also drew strong institutional and international demand, he added.
He described the listing as a sign of investor confidence in Egypt’s economy and the market’s ability to absorb large-scale offerings, as well as a new stage in the development of the capital market.
The IPO comprised 6.8625 billion shares out of Banque du Caire’s total 15.25 billion shares, at a final price of EGP 5.30 per share. The bank’s issued capital stands at EGP 30.5 billion.
Radwan said the EGX would continue developing new financial instruments to attract individual and institutional investors as well as regional and international funds, while working to deepen market liquidity and strengthen the bourse’s role in financing major national companies.
