FX Trading Roared +83.3% to $4.37bn Turnover on FMDQ

Kindly see commentary below on the Foreign Exchange (FX) market with data for the week-ended July 24, 2026. Table 1 compares weekly turnover for trades between banks (FMDQ Dealing Member (Banks)/Authorised Dealers) and their clients for the weeks-ended July 17 and 24, 2026.

 ▪ In the FX Spot and Derivatives markets, the total turnover for the week-ended July 24, 2026, was $4,375.01 million, representing an increase of 83.38% ($1,989.22 million) from the $2,385.79 million reported for the week-ended July 17, 2026. The week-on-week (WoW) increase in total turnover was jointly driven by the 81.85% ($1,940.85 million) increase in FX Spot transactions, which recorded a total value of $4,312.14 million compared to $2,371.29 million in the week-ended July 17, 2026, and the 333.59% ($48.37 million) increase in FX Derivatives transactions for the week-ended July 24, 2026. (See Table 1)

▪ The WoW increase in FX Derivatives turnover was driven by the 333.59% ($48.37 million) increase in FX Forwards turnover
