Morocco Registers Over 25,500 New Businesses in First Quarter of 2026
In a statement issued today, OMPIC said legal entities represented the majority of newly created businesses, accounting for 76% of all registrations, while individual businesses made up the remaining 24%.
“Legal entities represent a significant portion of these creations, with 76% of the total, compared to 24% for natural persons,” the statement noted.
The data also showed that the Single-Member Limited Liability Company (SARL AU) remained the preferred legal structure among entrepreneurs in Morocco, representing 66.5% of all newly created corporate entities. Traditional Limited Liability Companies (SARL) followed with 32.6%.
Casablanca-Settat continued to dominate Morocco’s entrepreneurial landscape, accounting for 39.5% of newly registered companies nationwide. Rabat-Sale-Kenitra ranked second with 14.3%, followed by Marrakech-Safi at 12.6% and Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima at 10.3%.
According to OMPIC, these four regions alone represented 76.7% of all newly registered corporate businesses in Morocco during the first three months of the year.
Sector-wise, trade remained the leading activity among newly established companies, accounting for 28.1% of registrations. Construction, public works, and real estate activities followed at 25.2%, while various service activities represented 19.3%.
Transport and industrial activities accounted for 7.5% and 6.5% respectively.
For sole proprietorships and individual businesses, the Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima region ranked first, accounting for 20.7% of registrations. Casablanca-Settat followed with 13.3%, ahead of the Oriental region at 11%, Rabat-Sale-Kenitra at 10.3%, and Fez-Meknes at 9.9%.
OMPIC also reported a strong demand for trade names during the same period, noting that 33,332 trade names, also known as negative certificates, were issued between January and March 2026.
