Morocco’s  automotive industry remained the country’s top export sector in the first half of 2026, with exports reaching MAD 93.655 billion ($10.06 billion), up 17.4% from MAD 79.807 billion during the same period last year, according to the Foreign Exchange Office’s monthly foreign trade indicators for June.

The increase was driven mainly by construction activities, whose exports rose by MAD 7.988 billion to MAD 37.934 billion. Wiring exports climbed by MAD 4.284 billion to MAD 35.050 billion, while exterior components increased by MAD 983 million to MAD 2.952 billion.

Overall exports reached MAD 260.397 billion between January and June, compared with MAD 237.305 billion a year earlier, an increase of 9.7% or MAD 23.092 billion.  Imports grew at a faster pace, rising 15.3% to MAD 458.778 billion from MAD 397.887 billion in the first half of 2025. As a result, Morocco’s trade deficit widened by 23.5% to MAD 198.380 billion, while the coverage rate fell from 59.6% to 56.8%.
